What is an ESOP?

ESOP stands for Employee Stock Ownership Plan. Like a 401(k), an ESOP is an employee retirement plan that is provided by the employer and regulated by the US government. However, unlike traditional 401(k)s, ESOPs require no out of pocket employee contributions. ESOPs are only made of contributions made by the employer.
